Our Family Favorite Go-To Turkey Burger!
These delicious turkey burgers have been a family favorite for years! – often requested for dinner!… I’ve been meaning to share the recipe for ages, but they always disappear before I snap a photo!
They are quick & easy to make and full of flavor and moisture! (As with any turkey burger you want to cook them thoroughly but not overcook and dry them out.) The roasted red peppers and fresh spinach add a ton of flavor and moisture. You can even see how they give off excess liquid in the skillet.
Speaking of skillet.. I have always cooked them in a skillet. The turkey burger patties have more moisture than a traditional beef burger patty and I don’t think they’re suited to traditional grilling – although they may work well on a flat-top style grill.
Turkey Burgers with Spinach, Feta and Red Pepper:
Serving Suggestions:
- I usually serve with toasted brioche burger buns, mayonnaise and some baby spinach.
- My younger daughter likes hers with pesto. They are also good with a simple basil mayonnaise or Roasted Red Pepper Mayo – see below.
- I like to serve with a simple salad such as my Spinach Parmesan and Orzo Salad or Asparagus and Corn Summer Salad
Simple Roasted Red Pepper Mayo Recipe:
- Blend in a chopper, food processor or blender:
- equal amounts roasted red pepper and mayonnaise
- squeeze of lemon
- salt and pepper to taste
Turkey Burger – Make Ahead:
- I have frozen the raw patties, but they seem to taste a bit better and are more moist when cooked fresh. If I don’t need all four, I tend to cook them all, then warm up the leftovers in a skillet and enjoy them with a salad for lunch.
- You can make, mix and form the burgers several hours in advance and refrigerate.
